Today I am sharing a very tasty, healthy and refreshing Pomegranate (Anar) Raita recipe. It is a delicious accompaniment made using curd and Pomegranate arils. Raita is an easy yoghurt-based dish, It is a perfect accompaniment to any Indian meal.

Pomegranate raita is one of the healthy, easy and quick accompaniments. This raita tastes sweet and spicy. I always recommend using chilled yoghurt thick whenever you make raita.

Anar raita is one of the easy and tasty side dishes that can be served with any food. If you like curds and pomegranates you will love them. Really you don’t need anything, simply grab a spoon and chilled Pomegranate raita and enjoy. For this raita I have used Fresh Pomegranate juice along with pomegranate arils, This Fresh juice adds flavour to the yoghurt and gives a beautiful pink colour to the dish. I used Homemade thick curd to make the pomegranate raita, but you can also use vegan or Greek-style yoghurt.

Ingredients:

Pomegranate (Anar) raita
  1. Pomegranate Pomegranate Arils and pomegranate juice are required to make the pomegranate raita recipe.
  2. Curd /Yogurt (Dahi) – Use plain, thick and fresh yoghurt to make the raita. To make it vegan, you can use vegan yoghurt. Note: Make sure it’s not too sour in taste.
  3. Spice powders – This raita is lightly spiced with Kashmiri red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder.
  4. Others – we also need green chillies, Adjust green chillies and red chilli powder as per your taste.
  5. Coriander leaves: It gives a refreshing taste to the raita.
  6. Sweetener: Sugar gives a mild sweetness to raita and balances the heat of chillies.

How to make Anar raita | Anar Ka Raita |Pomegranate Raita

Pomegranate Raita (Anardana Raita) has a sweet spicy flavour, and creamy texture with a lovely pink hue from the pomegranate juice. Apart from being refreshing and delicious, it is also very healthy.

Materials

  • 1 cup chilled plain yoghurt Dahi/curds
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chopped green chillies
  • 1/2 cup Pomegranate arils plus more for garnishing

Instructions

  • Whisk yoghurt in a bowl until creamy and smooth.
  • Add pomegranate juice, cumin powder, chilli powder, sugar, salt, chopped coriander and green chillies, and mix well.
  • Add pomegranate arils and mix again.
  • Garnish with more pomegranate arils, chopped coriander, a sprinkle of red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder and serve it chilled.

Suggestion Notes

Serving: Raita tastes best when served chilled. So always use with chilled yoghurt or prepare it and keep it in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.

Storage Suggestions: We can store Pomegranate (Anar) Raita for 2 days in a clean air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Variations: You can also add boiled and mashed potatoes, chopped or grated cucumbers etc. to make a variation of anar ka raita.

Chat Masala: By adding a little chaat masala makes this raita tangy and spicy.

Salt: To make this raita for vrat (fasting days), replace regular salt with rock salt (sendha namak).

Curd: Always use thick, fresh dahi which should not be sour.

Mint: You can use mint leaves instead of coriander leaves for a variation.

Pomegranate Juice: Always use Fresh pomegranate juice makes it taste delicious and canned juice will change the taste of raita.

Can I use curd at room temperature?

Yes, You can, but it’s always recommended to use chilled curd or You can refrigerate prepared raita before serving and serve it chilled for the best flavour,

How to make vegan Pomegranate(Anar)Raita?

You can use plant-based Yoghurt instead of dairy curd for making Pomegranate(Anar)Raita.

Can I add BlackSalt?

Yes, You can add Black salt to the raita, it will give a nice flavour to the raita.
