It’s a smooth, velvety-textured soup that generally involves pureeing peas with ingredients such as onions and garlic and includes cream and milk for added richness.
Cream of green pea soup preparation starts by sautéing onions and garlic, then simmering peas in broth or stock until they are tender. then, the mixture is blended until smooth, and cream or milk is often added to achieve the desired creamy consistency. Cream of Green Peas Soup | How to make Cream of Green Peas Soup
Materials
- 1.5 cup green peas
- 2 teaspoon butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
- 1/4 cup Coriander stems or leaves
Instructions
- In a heavy bottom deep pan, over medium flame, heat the butter.
- Add the bay leaf and cinnamon stick in the butter, and sauté for a second.
- Now add the garlic, and sauté it for about 30 seconds on a low flame.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until the onions become translucent.
- Add coriander stem and peas and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- Add water into it, then follow it boil over a medium flame for 5-10 minutes.
- Switch off the heat.
- Now, allow this mixture to cool down completely and then take out the bay leaf and cinnamon stick.
- Blend in the mixer until smooth.
- Transfer this mixture into the deep pan.
- Add a more water if required.
- Add milk and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add a half cup of milk, salt, pepper and mix well.
- Turn off the flame.
- Add fresh cream and stirring continuously.
- Pour the steaming hot soup into soup bowls and Serve hot.
- Green peas soup is ready to serve
Notes
- You can skip onion and garlic if you do not like them.
- You can strain the soup if needed.
- Adjust the consistency of the soup as per the requirement.
- Serve it hot for a better taste.
- You can also reduce or skip the fresh cream as per requirement.
