Today I am going to share a post on how to make Potato Pomegranate Raita. Aloo Anar ka Raita is a simple and easy-to-make Indian side dish. Potato Pomegranate (Aloo Anar)Raita is a refreshing Indian accompaniment made with fresh yoghurt, boiled and cubed or mashed potatoes, pomegranate arils and a few mild spices. It’s not only delicious but also nutritious.

Here is how to make it. It is also a great way to use up any leftover boiled potatoes sitting in your fridge.

What ia Aloo Anar Raita?

Aloo Anar Ka Raita or Potato Pomegranate Raita, is a simple yet flavourful Indian yoghurt-based dish, where Yogurt is whisked until smooth and then mixed with boiled potatoes, pomegranate arils, mint leaves, chat masala, powdered sugar, salt, cumin powder and green chillies.

First, boil one large potato in a pressure cooker or steamer, then peel and mash the potato.

Whisk the thick yoghurt with milk until smooth and creamy.

Now add the dry spices – ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder,1 teaspoon chat masala powder, salt to taste, and sugar powder to taste.

Add the Mashed or chopped potato and mix well.

Add Pomegranate arils, chopped green chilli, and mint and mix well.

Mix well and chill the raita for half an hour and serve.

Raita is ready to serve, Garnish with Mint and Pomegranate and serve it.

You can serve this raita with your everyday meals, plain paratha or any stuffed paratha of your choice such as Aloo Ka Paratha, Palak Paratha, mooli ka paratha etc. It also tastes delicious with Biryani

💭Expert Tips

  • You can make this aloo raita on Navratri fasting or any other fasting day also. You can use rock salt and skip chat masala.
  • Instead of chopped green chilli, you can also add red chilli powder.
  • You can also use black salt. Do adjust the spices as per your taste.

Materials

  • 1 cup thick Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1-2 teaspoon chat masala
  • sugar powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Green Chilli chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Mint chopped
  • 1 cup Potatoes boiled, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils

Instructions

  • Whisk the thick yoghurt with milk until smooth and creamy. Add more milk to adjust the consistency of yoghurt if required.
  • Add all the ingredients to make raita in the curd and mix well.
  • Mix them all well and garnish with pomegranate and chopped yoghurt.
  • Chill the raita for half an hour and serve.

Notes

You can also use black salt. Do adjust the spices as per your taste.
