Suggestions and Tips for Making Spinach (Palak)Rice

Fresh Spinach: Always use fresh spinach leaves for the best flavour and texture in your spinach rice. Wash the spinach thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris before chopping it finely.

Blanch the Spinach: To preserve the vibrant green colour of the spinach and remove any bitterness, blanch the spinach leaves in boiling water for 15 sec-1 minutes, then immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain the spinach well before using it in the rice.

Adjust Seasonings: You can experiment with different spices and seasonings to tailor the flavour of the spinach rice to your taste preferences. Adjust the number of spices according to your preference for mild or bold flavours.

Add Nutritional Boosts: Enhance the nutritional value of spinach rice by adding ingredients like chopped carrots, peas, or tofu. These additions will increase the nutrient content, colour and texture.

Storage Suggestions for Spinach Rice

Palak Rice will last for about 2-3 days in the refrigerator if stored in an airtight container. But I will recommend you to make it fresh, for the best taste.

Refrigeration: Allow the spinach rice to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store the container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. When reheating, sprinkle a little water over the rice to prevent it from drying out, and then microwave or reheat on the stovetop until heated through.

Reheating Tips: When reheating spinach rice, add a splash of water or vegetable broth to help moisten the rice and prevent it dry. Stir the rice occasionally while reheating to ensure even heating throughout. You can also add a drizzle of oil or ghee to enhance the flavours before serving.

Variations for Spinach Rice
