Taak Recipe (Maharashtrian Spiced Buttermilk)

Taak, also known as Mattha, is a traditional Indian beverage. originated from Maharashtra, India. It is spiced buttermilk, due to its refreshing and cooling properties its popular.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yoghurt dahi, curd
  • 2 cups chilled water
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ tsp finely chopped green chillies
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • Handful of finely chopped coriander

Instructions

  • Blend the yoghurt with salt, black salt, cumin powder, ginger and green chilli.
  • Add chilled water and blend it again.
  • Check for salt and add more required. Set aside.
  • Add chopped coriander and stir well.
  • Refigerate for 30 minutes and Stirr well before serving.
  • Garnish with roasted cumin powder and serve chilled.
