Chikoo (Sapota) Milkshake

Today, I am sharing a Chikoo Milkshake recipe. Milkshake is the perfect cooling and refreshing drink for hot summer days. Chikoo milkshake is a tasty, refreshing and healthy milkshake that you can make and enjoy for breakfast or a snack. Chikoo is also known as Sapota or Sapodilla. Sapota is a tropical fruit that is available locally in India. It is also a seasonal fruit that is easily available throughout Summer.

Chikoo or Sapota Chikoo fruit/ sapodilla Milkshake is a quick, easy-to-make, healthy yummy beverage which goes perfectly in summer or during normal times. chikoo is one of my kid’s favourite fruits and Chikko milkshake is one of my kid’s favourite milkshakes. Chikoo is rich in vitamin A vitamin C, minerals and dietary fibre and antioxidants. Sapota is high in sugar content loaded with sugars, and the chikoo milkshake is also rich in calories. So it is best to be avoided by people who have diabetics. If you are a person who follows a sedentary lifestyle, avoid consuming sapota.

How To Make Chikoo (Sapota) Milkshake?

Ingredients:

  • Chikoo: washed, peeled, deseeded and chopped Chikoo.Always use ripe fruits because they have a soft, melt-in-your-mouth granular texture.
  • Milk chilled: I am using Full-fat milk, but feel free to use dairy-free or plant-based milk like almond milk, oat milk or soy milk. Full-fat whole milk is recommended for a creamy texture. However, you can use low-fat or fat-free dairy.
  • Sweetener: A small amount of any of the sweeteners of your choice like honey, maple syrup, date syrup etc.
  • Ice cubes: optional

Preparation:

  • Peel the skin of the chikoo, then cut it in half. Remove all the black seeds and chop roughly.

Method:

  • Add all the ingredients, chopped chikoo, 1/4 cup of chilled milk and sweetener into the blender jar.
  • Blend until smooth now add the rest of the milk and ice or ice cream into the jar and process (blend)till smooth and creamy.
  • Chikoo milkshake is ready to serve.
  • Pour into the serving glass and enjoy.

Suggestions

  • Milkshakes taste best when served chilled.
  • Add more chilled milk as necessary, depending on your desired consistency.
  • You can also add Rose syrup or cinnamon powder, cardamom powder etc. as per taste.
  • For instant use: Always use chilled milk and chilled chikoo for an instant milkshake.
  • For an Instantly chilled Milkshake, use chilled milk. Otherwise, we can prepare it a few hours before serving and chill it in the refrigerator.
  • Ice cream: You can add a scoop of ice cream and reduce the sweetener.
  • It can be stored in an airtight jar (bottle) in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.

Sweetener: We can Prepare a chikoo milkshake without Sweetener. You can also use any sweetener of your taste and choice, like jaggery, honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, condensed milk, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, dates or raisins etc.

For Vegans: We can replace dairy milk with plant-based milk, like soy, almond, cashew, coconut milk etc.

Topping: You can add chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios or walnuts as a garnish.

For more Healthy Variation:
In the chikoo milkshake, you can reduce the quantity of chikoo and replace it with other fruits like bananas, apples etc.

Protein Powder- you can add a scoop of whey protein or protein powder, To make it high in protein.

Can I store leftoverChikoo Milkshake?

Yes, you can, but I wouldn’t recommend keeping this chikoo shake. It loses its flavour and texture after 3-4 hours.

What type of milk is best for a Chikoo milkshake?

Traditionally this Milkshake is prepared with regular full-cream milk because whole milk makes this Chikoo shake truly taste rich and creamy. But you can also use low-fat milk for making this recipe. You can choose any milk of your choice.

Materials

  • 2 cup Chikoo washed, peeled, deseeded and chopped
  • 2 cups Milk chilled
  • sweetener as per taste
  • 1 cup Ice cubes optional

Instructions

Preparation:

  • Peel the skin and discard the seeds of chikoo.

Method:

  • Add all the ingredients, chopped chikoo, 1/4 cup of chilled milk and sweetener into the blender jar.
  • Blend until smooth now add the rest of the milk and ice or ice cream into the jar and process (blend)till smooth and creamy.
  • Chikoo milkshake is ready to serve.
  • Serve chilled.

Notes

 
  • Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon powder & few chunks of chikoo.
  • You can use add chopped nuts like almonds or pistachio or walnuts as a garnish.
  • You can even add almond powder or chopped dates to the blender along with chikoo pieces and blend. This will bring a rich taste to the milkshake.
  • You can also use 2-3 dates instead of sugar or honey to make it more nutritious and tasty.
