Crispy & Spicy Murmura Chivda Recipe

Equipment

  • 1 Large Pan or Kadai for roasting the ingredients.
  • 1 Spatula to mix the spices and murmura evenly.
  • 1 Airtight Container for storage

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 cup Peanuts
  • 1/4 cup Roasted Chana Dal
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafotida
  • 2 Green Chilies Chopped
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ tsp Red Chili Powder Adjust to taste
  • 3 cups Murmura Puffed Rice
  • 1/4 cup sev bhujia
  • ½ tsp Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Sugar Optional

Instructions

  • In a pan, heat oil on medium flame.
  • Add 1 cup of Peanuts and roast over medium flame until they crackle.
  • Then keep them aside, add 1/4 cup of fried Bengal gram (Putani), and fry them together untill they turn golden in colour.
  • Keep them aside and add 1 tsp mustard Seeds,1/4 tsp Asafoetida, 2-3 Dried Red chillies, 2-3 green chillies and few curry leaves
  • saute them all together for a few seconds until they turn crispy.
  • Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp red chilli powder and Stir well.
  • Add 3 cups of puffed rice and salt to taste, sev bhujia 1/4 cup and 1 tsp of sugar powder.
  • Switch off the flame and mix them well, Our Murmura Chivda is ready to serve.

  • Adjust Spice Levels: Modify the number of green chillies and red chilli powder to suit your spice preference.
  • For Extra Crunch: Dry roast the murmura before mixing to enhance crispiness.
  • Oil-Free Option: Skip the oil and dry roast the ingredients for a healthier version.
  • Storage Tip: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 weeks to maintain crispiness. If it softens, dry roast it for 1-2 minutes before serving.
  • Customizations: Add roasted flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, or almonds for extra nutrition.
