How to make Poha Kheer | Aval Payasam| Instant Flattened Rice Kheer
Poha Kheer is a quick Indian dessert that can be made easily using just milk and sugar.

Ingredients

Poha/Choora/ Flattened rice
thick
500
ml
Milk

Dry fruits as per your choice
Sugar or jaggery
to taste

Green cardamom powder
pinch of
saffron few strands
soaked in warm milk
Instructions
Preparation
Rinse the poha to remove the dust or other particles and then soak it for 5 mins.
Soak the saffron strands in 2 tablespoons of warm milk.
Method
Heat the milk in a deep pan, over medium flame.
Add poha to milk, when the milk starts to boil.
Cook this poha and milk mixture, for 5-8 minutes, over a low flame, while stirring continuously.
Add sugar, and cook until sugar dissolves.
Add cardamom powder, saffron and dried fruits and mix it well.
Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring continuously.
Poha kheer is ready.
Garnish it, and serve it hot or cold as per your taste
Notes
Thin poha can be used instead of thick poha.
If you are using thin Poha, avoid soaking.
If you are using to use red flattened rice, then soak it for an additional time.
Adjust the sugar quantity according to your taste. You can also use jaggery instead of sugar.
You can use condensed milk instead of sugar.
You can adjust the thickness according to your taste, by adding more milk.
