Ingredients

  • 500 ml milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Grounded Pepper optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon honey sweetener of your choice

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, pour the milk of your choice.
  • Add the ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, and any optional spices you prefer like black pepper, ginger, or cardamom.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat while whisk gently to combine all the ingredients.
  • Allow the golden milk to simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • If you prefer, add a small amount of coconut oil or ghee for a creamier texture and to enhance the absorption of turmeric, as it's fat-soluble.
  • Once heated through, pour the golden milk into a mug.
  • Add the sweetener of your choice (honey or maple syrup) and adjust the amount according to your taste preferences. Stir well until the sweetener dissolves.
  • garnish with cinnamon or black pepper.
  • Serve warm and enjoy your soothing and nutritious golden milk!

Notes

Turmeric powder may not be as effective as crushed turmeric sticks because the chances of contamination in the powder are high, plus its efficacy is also bound to reduce during the heat-generating grinding process.
