Dry Fruit chikki recipe

Dry fruit chikki or brittle is a traditional Indian sweet snack. Dry fruit chikki is popular mainly during winter and festival season. Dry fruit chikki is one of the healthy and deliciously easy-to-make homemade candy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup almonds( Badam) chopped
  • 1/4 cup pistachio(pista) chopped
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts(Kaju) chopped
  • 1 cup jaggery grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon ghee or unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch salt(namak)

Instructions

  • Roughly chop the dry fruits or pulse them in a food processor. Keep them chunky for a satisfying crunch in every bite.
  • Dry Roast all the dry fruits over low flame for 4-5 mins.
  • Heat the Ghee In a pan, melt ghee over low heat. Add the grated jaggery and stir continuously until it melts and forms a syrupy consistency.
  • Once the jaggery is melted, add the chopped dry fruits to the pan. Mix well to coat the dry fruits evenly with the jaggery syrup. If desired, add a pinch of cardamom powder for extra flavor.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased surface or parchment paper. With the help of a rolling pin, flatten the mixture to your desired thickness. You can also use greased hands to shape it into a square or rectangle.
  • Allow the chikki to cool and set for a few hours. Once it hardens, Remove the chikki from the surface With the help of a knife.
  • Our Dry fruit chikki is ready to serve.

Notes

  • Don’t overheat sugar or jaggery for a long time, it will turn hard.
  • This recipe uses sugar to make chikki you can replace it with jaggery as well.
