Dahi Chawal | Yogurt (curd) Rice Recipe | How to make Dahi Chawal | easy rice recipe

Curd rice can be prepared with steamed rice and plain curd or with additional tempering of urad dal, mustard seeds, chillies and curry leaves.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup of rice boiled
  • 1 tablespoon oil/ghee
  • 1-2 dry red chill
  • 2 teaspoon black gram (urad dal)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds rai (Rai)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger (adrakh)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chilli (Hari mirch)
  • 10-12 curry leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafetida (hing)
  • salt to taste (namak)
  • 1/2 cup milk or fresh cream (doodh ya taza cream)
  • 1 cup yoghurt/ curds दही

Instructions

  • When the rice is hot, mash it nicely with a masher.
  • Add salt, green chilli milk and curd to the rice and mix well.
  • Heat ghee/oil in a pan.
  • Now add red chillies, urad dal to the oil and fry the dal continuously till it becomes golden.
  • Stir continuously and add chopped ginger, asafoetida and mustard seeds.
  • Add fresh curry leaves and stir for a minute and turn off the stove.
  • Now add curd rice mixture into the tempering and mix them well.
  • Curd rice is ready to serve.
  • Garnish with pomegranate and serve chilled.
