What are the main ingredients of Banana Lassi?

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Banana Lassi:

  • Banana(Fresh or Frozen): Frozen bananas improve the thickness and texture of your smoothie. Just slice a big banana and put it on a plate in the freezer for about 2 hours, or do it before you go to bed, then they are perfect for your next morning Lassi.
  • Plain Yogurt: Make sure you are using fresh and thick curd. The beverage won’t taste good if the Dahi is sour. Swap it with plant-based yoghurt if you are vegan.
  • Sweetener: Add any of the sweeteners of your choice like honey, maple syrup, date syrup etc
  • Flavour: Cardamom Powder or Cinnamon Powder
  • Chilled milk or Water(optional): Add more or less to adjust the consistency. You can replace it with water or plant-based milk.
  • Topping: grated chocolate, choco chips or nuts etc. as per taste.

Method:

  • Put the sliced banana, curd, sweetener and cardamom Powder in the blender and blend until creamy,  smooth and foamy.
  • You can add some ice cubes while grinding or chill in the fridge and serve.
  • Pour into glass garnish with grated chocolate and serve immediately.

Note:

You can adjust the consistency of your Lassi by adding more milk or water to make it thinner or more bananas to make it thicker.

Chill it in the refrigerator for an hour or two and serve it chilled.

Suggestions:

To Make a Vegan Banana Lassi: To make this recipe vegan, replace dairy yoghurt with your favourite vegan plant-based yoghurt.
Storage: Banana lassi must be consumed shortly after blending to maintain its temperature, texture and taste.
Frozen Banana: Always use some frozen bananas or fruits to keep it extra cool and flavorful.
Sweetener: Adjust the amount of Sweetener depending on the sweetness of the banana.
Fresh Curd: Make sure the curd is not sour. Always use fresh thick curd.
Ice Cube: If you want to serve immediately, add ice cubes while blending.

Garnishing: Garnish it with your favourite toppings like cocoa powder, grated chocolate, choco chips, nuts, etc.

Chill/freeze ingredients: Banana lassi is best served chilled. Start with frozen Banana and chilled yoghurt/Dahi. This way you don’t have to add ice, which ends up diluting the flavours.

Variations:

Add in some vanilla extract for a delightful vanilla flavour.
You can also add a little bit of rose water or gulkand to the drink.
To make kesar lassi (saffron-infused lassi), soak a pinch of saffron in warm milk and add it to the lassi.
